Cedarville, Ohio

OperaCadabra

Returning for 2027

at the newly refurbished historic Cedarville Opera House

The show is coming home.

OperaCadabra is a night of comedy, magic and live music in a small-town opera house. Down-home and a little loud. Bring the whole family.

I produced it at the Cedarville Opera House for years. Past bills have included Mac King and John Carney. There were cards, there was music, and at least one pie found its way to my face.

The opera house is closed for a full restoration right now. When the doors open again, OperaCadabra comes back with them.

The house

The Cedarville Opera House sits on North Main Street. The brick building went up in 1888 after a fire took the first one. Whitelaw Reid, a Cedarville native, brought the plans over from England. For decades it was where the town gathered: traveling vaudeville acts, concerts, political meetings, graduations.

It joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 and reopened after a community restoration in 1994. The current renovation follows the original design closely.
